Rev. Francesco Iacona, CMF, Board Member

Rev. Francesco Iacona was ordained on January 4, 2002, and since 2011 has been assigned to serve the Diocese of St. Augustine at Our Lady Star of the Sea in Ponte Vedra Beach, St. Patrick in Gainesville, and Our Lady of Good Counsel in St. Augustine. Prior to that he served the Claretians in Los Angeles, Chicago, Perth Amboy (NJ), Springfield (MO), and Stone Mountain (GA), and had various short-term assignments in the Caribbean and Central America. He has also served as an itinerant preacher, seeking to raise funds for the most needy, and to awaken Christ in those in the pews, and has helped in campus ministry and a legal aid clinic. His hobbies include nature, reading, travel, and physical and spiritual exercises. Often he have been asked if it was difficult to make the transition from lawyer to priest. His response has been that there is more similarity than might first be evident. As a lawyer he did much work in mergers and acquisitions, seeking to build bridges between two companies. As a priest he does much the same, striving to strengthen relationships between spouses, parents and their children, individuals and God, rich and poor, etc. It is obvious there is a growing polarity among God’s people. How sad, especially when we have so much in common, not the least is the love and presence of God in each of us. For many years the following has been his guide: No God, no peace. Know God, know peace. To know God, look for the good in you and others.
